HVS Liquid Gold Cattle is a chelated mineral and vitamin drench for young stock and finishing animals. All cattle on a forage based diet will respond to HVS Liquid Gold, especially in areas of copper deficiency. Too much molybdenum or sulphur in the diet can 'lock-up' copper making it unavailable to the animal even if it is actually present in the diet. Copper that is 'locked-up' cannot be properly utilised by livestock. there is growing evidence that HVS Liquid Gold Cattle is effective even in these circumstances.
Grazed grass is a popular and cheap feed to offer cattle. Unfortunately many swards can be deficient in a range of trace minerals and vitamins. Chelated minerals are minerals that can be more easily absorbed by the animals body. They have been bonded to amino acids and pass more easily through the intestinal wall into the blood stream to metabolise. HVS Liquid Gold Cattle has chelated minerals for easy absorption and utilisation, boosting animals mineral and vitamins levels prior to turnout to make sure that animals make the best use of the grass available to them. Paul Elwood, from HVS Animal Health, says “Drenching stock with Liquid Gold Cattle prior to turnout can help deliver an extra 9.9kg of live weight over a 54 day period.” He also commented in Farming Life publication that "Liquid Gold Cattle is the only product of its kind in which essential trace elements, including iron, copper, zinc and manganese, are included solely in their chelated form". "It also contains nucleotides, which act to increase red blood cell numbers, a key factor in determining animals ability to grow."
Beef Cattle - Suckler Herds and Stores
Dose cows 4-6 weeks before calving and 2/3 weeks before service. Dose stores/yearlings at turn-out and housing bulls - every 3 months Dairy cattle and followers. Dose calves at 1 month old and again at 3 months. Whilst calves are being liquid fed HVS Liquid Gold Cattle should be added to their milk or milk substitute, splitting the dose over two or more days, with great care taken to make sure that none of the Liquid Gold gets into their rumen.
Dairy Cattle and Followers
HVS Liquid Gold Cattle is extremely beneficial as an aid to the development of dairy heifers required to achieve physical maturity for calving at 2 years. These heifers should be dosed at weaning and then approximately every 6 months.
Frequency of Dosing
Normally 3-6 months. Young stock, those recovering from illness may respond to more frequent dosing, but a twice yearly routine has proven highly effective on most farms, including many in which acute deficiencies have been experienced previously.
