Forcefields Battery Solar Powered Water Pump

Livestock need water and plenty of it. Due to the GLAS scheme, farmers have come under increasing pressure to leave their watercourses inaccessible. This has created problems for farmers especially if mains supply does not extended to the area of the farm that the livestock is in. Forcefields Battery Solar Powered Water Pump solves this problem completely.

For Best Results use with a new 12V Battery

Forcefields Battery Solar Powered Water Pump has been specifically designed using proven water-pumping technology. This technology is able to successfully transfer large volumes of water. The water trough is fitted with a float switch. When the float switch drops, from the desired full capacity level, it activates a submersible pump. This pump then pumps the water from your water source directly into the water trough. The pump is then deactivated when the float switch reaches the desire full capacity level again. This is repeated each and every time the water level is lowered by the livestock drinking. This system eliminates the need for balancing tanks or header tanks as all that is needed is the water trough.

The submersible water pump connects to 30m of hose which supplies the water directly into the water trough. the submersible pump is powered by a 12v battery which is housed inside a totally weatherproof control box. This 12v battery is charged by the extremely efficient 30w solar panel mounted on a strong and reliable, robust 5 foot steel stand.

Differing livestock have varying water requirements. Then the temperature, time of day, humidity and what the livestock is being feed, all effect the water requirements on a daily basis. Livestock, being herd animals, drink socially, so water supply requirements vary through out the day. Firstly, the trough needs to be of a suitable size for the expected requirements. Secondly the supply of water needs to meet the requirements.

What effects the efficiency of a water pump.
Two main factors have an effect on the pumps delivery out put. These are 1) the vertical height from the water source level, and the horizontal length that the water travels to get to its destination, your water trough. These factors combined are termed as the head. Increasing the head reduces the pumps output. Simply stated, the closer to the water source and water level that the water trough is, the more efficient the pump will be. The further away the trough is, the pumps efficiency begins to be compromised.

With a 10m head this pumps runs at around 65% of its peak output. Running at 65% peak output is ideal. this means the pump isn't working at 100%. Any appliance running at 100% will wear out faster.

Weather conditions will effect the recharge times. Therefore recharge outputs will be higher during the summer months. The recommendations outlined below are based on a 4 hour recharge time daily.
