ABUS 70IB/45 Aqua Safe Padlock
ABUS 70IB/45 Aqua Safe Padlock is a CEN security grade 2 and an Abus security level 5 padlock with 8mm shackle diameter, a vertical clearance of 25mm. The ABUS 70IB/45 Aqua Safe Padlock is ideal for securing chains, tool boxes, sheds, boats and any other medium value items outdoors, by the sea or close to water. Can also be used on meal bins outdoors.
The ABUS 70IB/45 brass padlock are double bolted and self-locking; they also feature a precision pin cylinder and paracentric keyway which resists picking. The ABUS 70IB/45 brass padlock bodies and stainless steel shackles are both protected by a shock-absorbing, weather-resistant vinyl coating, ensuring that these padlocks are suitable for use in environments which will place them in close proximity to dirt and water. These padlocks are marine grade: they feature rust-resistant inner components and drainage channels which help to protect the locking mechanism from water and sediment. Therefore the ABUS 70IB/45 brass padlock are ideal for use in marine or water-sport applications.
ABUS Security Levels Explained
Abus offer their own security level guide along with the CEN grade. This can be used as a guide of how strong the padlock is within it's CEN grade. The security level goes from 1 to 10 with 10 being the most robust security. The higher the rating the bigger the lock, the stronger the Shackle and more more secure the casing.

Padlocks in Europe are graded following the CEN Gading system which means any padlock has to meet certain requirements. CEN grades each padlock from 1 to 6. These range from low security applications such as lockers and toolboxes to high security applications such as locking of freight containers and high value goods. CEN Grade 6 padlocks are very rare and as such most companies would recommend a grade of 3 to 5 for higher security applications.
